From our PTA Presidents

Dear Springman and Attea families,

Congratulations to our students, teachers, administrators and parents as we sprint toward the end of another school year!

Thank you to a very dedicated PTA board for their tireless effort to make this year so successful. In addition, without the support from you, our parents, we wouldn’t be able to give back to our students and teachers, the way we do, so THANK YOU!

We’ve enjoyed the opportunity to lead the PTA over the past two years and look forward to supporting our incoming co-presidents Moira Hathcock and Karen Hitzeman.

It has been an honor to work with all of you!

Truly,

Shonne Ehrhardt and Missy Amrol

From our PTA Presidents

Dear Springman and Attea Families,

 Spring has finally SPRUNG!

The school year is winding down and we are diligently working on slating to fill open positions on the 2016/2017 PTA Board.  PTA is a great way to get involved in your child’s school experience and stay in touch with what is happening in the schools. As your PTA Co-Presidents we have found the past two years extremely rewarding by connecting with the parents, teachers, support staff, and the community to bring added value to our middle schoolers educational experience. We couldn’t have done it without YOU!

Over the course of this past year, PTA brought new programs into the classrooms and funded school wide initiatives.  As a result of your support for PTA fundraising initiatives, we funded nearly $25,000 in programs and activities at Springman and Attea.  Additionally, we gave over $4000 to charitable causes in our community.  If you are interested in being a part of this vital organization, please contact us at spatpta@gmail.com

Online registration for school and PTA will be underway this month.  Please take a moment and fill out the online PTA membership link located on the District website. April and May are very busy months in the PTA and school communities.

Teacher Appreciation week is just around the corner  (May 2-6)

Please contact Dianna Sirakides if you are interested in assisting with activities during that week or able to make a donation. Dianna can be reached at gem-di@comcast.net

Our final meeting of the year is May 10th at Attea at 9:15am.

For more information on the PTA, what we do and when our meetings take place, please check out our website, SPATPTA.org.

Sincerely,

Missy Amrol and Shonne Ehrhardt

Dear Springman and Attea Families,

 Springing Forward

In between making summer camp plans and prepping for the end of the school year - we hope you're also thinking about what you might want to do next year with the PTA?

We would love to hear from you about what you'd like to do.  If you haven't gotten involved with us before, it's a great way to get connected to the school, teachers and principals.  As our kids get older and we have fewer chances to get into the schools and meet teachers, the PTA is one of the best ways

to stay connected.  That connection is how the middle school PTA differs from the younger grades.

From our PTA Presidents

Dear Springman and Attea Families,

Hello!

It is hard to believe how rapidly the school year is flying by. The staffs at both schools are busy preparing for the transitions, which leads us to begin to think about the transitions that will take place on our PTA Board. We have had the wonderful opportunity to serve as your PTA co-presidents for the past two years.  We have accepted the position to co-chair the PTA Council President position for next year, leaving the President (co-president) position open for next year. You may find yourself in a position to want to get involved, but may be a little unsure about how to do so. Perhaps a few words of encouragement may entice you to jump on board!

Being a part of the PTA, is a great way to be connected and know what is happening in the schools. PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, which allows you to build a rapport and discuss issues that are on your mind. It is because of parents’ ideas that PTA seeks out information, tools, and presentations that are at the forefront of our kids’ lives. By volunteering with your PTA, you put your skills and hobbies to use for a noble cause, your kids and your community. By getting involved at your kid’s school, you will be part of the solution, in helping to make a positive change. In addition, you’ll be demonstrating to your child, the importance you place on education.

Next year, there will be several board positions available, in addition to the President (co-president), to consider To name a few; Vice President, 2nd Vice President –Volunteers and Membership, Treasurer, Fundraising Chair, Book Fair Chair, Website and e-Blast Chair, FOCUS newsletter Chair, School Board Observer and 8th Grade Graduation Chair. If you have any interest in any of the above positions or questions about what the responsibilities include, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or another board member!

We also welcome you to stop by for a PTA Volunteer Appreciation/Meet and Greet on Thursday, March 10th from 7-9pm.  Look for the invitation in the newsletter, on the website, and in other PTA and school correspondence. Know an incoming 6th grade parent?  Invite them along for the evening!

We hope to see you on Tuesday, March 8th  at 9:15 at Attea.

Warmly,

Missy Amrol and Shonne Ehrhardt

Dear Springman and Attea Families,

Parents and volunteers are always busy but it seems especially so at this time of year! We hope all of our Springman and Attea parents and staff will take a moment over the winter break to relax and enjoy our heartfelt thanks for a great first semester! Our PTA’s focus on helping enrich the educational experience of our kids was in full force in 2015 and we look forward to a strong 2016 too!

Thank you!

Hello Springman and Attea Families,

As we mentioned in last newsletter, the past few months have been a whirlwind of activity within the PTA.  We feel we have so much to give thanks for within our PTA community.

The Attea and Springman book fairs were very well attended by students, staff and parents. Thank you to everyone involved in those efforts. Especially Cherie DiCesare and Kathy Hartsig, our book fair chairs. One of the highlights of our book fair, is the fact that PTA was able to offer $10 gift certificates to over 200 students that are currently on free and reduced lunch. These children, with the assistance of their Language Arts teacher, purchased a book to read. The Attea Administration also provided a large number of $10 gift certificates for the students in each grade level as an extra incentive to purchase books. Getting kids to read is what the book fairs are all about!

Dear Springman and Attea families,

We are pleased to share that September and October continue to be action-packed months for your SPAT PTA! We kicked off our “It’s Your Choice” fall fundraiser and were blown away by all the parents and volunteers who helped make it a success. We will start soon to receive the teacher wish lists and the money raised in our fundraiser is a key component to helping us fund these great initiatives.

This month we are hosting “Turning Points,” a parent education opportunity featuring invaluable information from our principals and the GBS principal and assistant principal. It was so nice to see so many interested parents at the first morning session and we look forward to more of you attending this popular program presented in the EVENING at Attea on October 14th, at 7 p.m.
